Week 22 | Week 24
March 7-13, 2020

I am in the process of overhauling the routine I am trying to adhere to for the Weight Watchers project. Some things come easily, while others are commitments I am unable to stick to because life, for me anyway, is unpredictable at best and absolute chaos at best. My moods strike me in varying tones throughout the week and I find myself unable to compose even a basic thought on paper. Currently I am playing major catch-up with my schedule. It is currently April 1, 2020 so while I am going to do my best to avoid any discussion of Covid19 in this article, as I catch up, it will eventually take over as a central focus to a lot of my work. That being said, let’s rewind to a time before the world began falling apart. Back to the fighting analogy.

I only lost .6 lbs this week. As discouraging as this is, I’m okay with the loss. It’s little and I know it will pay off in the end. I just put some soft jabs in this week and padded those points. Definitely not going to stop. I think my little bit of loss is due to a heavy dinner mixed with some constipation. Also, my lack of exercise is a bit disappointing. Anyhow, this coming week is another attempt. What is awaiting my routine?

Boiled Eggs Are Your Friend
One thing that has remained consistent across all of my diets, from low carb to low sodium to those crazy “OHMYGAWD THE SOLDIERS DO THIS DIET TO GET IN MURDER SHAPE!” diets, have always been eggs, in particular, boiled eggs. Filling, semi-tasty protein and fat bombs that are filling and nutritious. Eggs are cheap, plentiful, and if you have land and patience to raise chickens, they are readily accessible and even better. Just sticking to boiled eggs, here are a few things I do to make them delicious for everyone:

  • Plain
  • Split in half, throw yolks in bowl, finely chop onions, dill pickles, bell peppers and throw those and some light mayo, mustard and a couple packets of stevia into the yolks. Take your boiled white halves and fill them. Top with paprika. Enjoy, you literally made deviled eggs for like 1 point for three.
  • Chop up the eggs and stir them with chopped onions, bell peppers, dill pickles, mustard, light mayo, a couple packets of Stevia and blam! Egg salad! Throw in some shredded chicken or tuna and Blam! More protein! Low points, high impact. Season with paprika. I love making wraps with this and dipping those in hot sauce.
  • Take a salad and top it off with chopped or sliced boiled eggs for added protein and fats without blowing up the points.
  • Get creative!

How To Make Exercise Painless
I have not been exercising. I hate stationary exercising and long for the outdoors. As spring rolls in I am thankful for the grass growing, which means yard work! Yard work means fresh air and podcasts while making my property look nice. That being said, I hope the pain in my right arm goes away soon. I can’t throw balls, I can’t shoot hoops and I can’t rotate my arm as freely as I would like. What can I do to make arm day less painful?

Sharing My Life Story: From College to Teaching
As I transitioned from college to work, I was drawing unemployment. I lived in a little town 30 miles from civilization in any direction. I had a weak ass Internet connection. I was bored and looking for work. So much stress, so much worry led me to eating more and more. I specifically remember the store I visited for lunch almost daily. The young lady who worked the station was in charge of everything, including the kitchen, and she made pizzas for me. When she was done, those pizzas were thick and delicious. I was throwing back more soda than ever and a great part of my down time was spent playing World of Warcraft (Another story I will branch off to). I was getting very little exercise both physically and mentally. I was also sick all of the time.

As summer wound down and the fall began, I took a sub spot at my school. The pay was actually great because of all of the stipulations of pay. I was plying my trade and building relationships with administration and I was suddenly losing weight. I was losing weight at an alarming rate. No big deal, right? I was eating far less because now I was busy. I had no idea what was going on, and I didn’t worry. I felt okay, but I noticed I was also getting sick a lot more often and easily. I visited my usual doctor and he wanted to have me tested for diabetes, and he wanted to prescribe B12 shots to me. I declined all of this because I believed that I was not diabetic. I was invincible.

My first semester as a substitute concluded in October, and I was honored to be a full time employee. I accepted a job as a JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) specialist. I was now working. Things were looking up! I became friends with several folk and the other JAG specialist acted as a mentor for me. She was very helpful and lined me out. Off to the races. The job was nice, but it had a tremendous amount of down time for a few months as I was trained and prepped. I felt useless, but I helped everywhere I could and I ate ALL OF THE FOOD EVER. I was eating cheap junk from Wal-Mart and eating out every night. The weight was still dropping. Eventually my weight fell from 450 to 345ish. My first year ended and I was sick all of the damn time and I inexplicably lost a ton of weight.

What Happened?
